Celebrating the New Year

Hey again, everyone. I have taken some recent time off from posting due to the holidays. It has been so relaxing, and I hope that you have had a fabulous holiday season.

Whatever you decide to do tonight and tomorrow to ring in the new year, please do it safely. James and I are spending the night quietly at home. It is nice to be in pj's snuggled up in a blanket while writing this post. We are not "party people". Not only are we homebodies, but our city is currently plagued with thousands of people out on the town. So the thought of being among them all was not that appealing.

Traditionally we have turnip greens and black eyed peas for New Year's Day. Sometimes we even have Hoppin' John. However, the recipe I am going to share with you is simpler than that. It is also fun. We celebrate just about every occasion with this, including our wedding.

Cranberry Mimosas:

1/3 cup cranberry juice
1/3 cup orange juice
1/2 cup champagne

Combine all ingredients. Serve in champagne flutes once mixed.

(I use the entire bottle of champagne, so I basically quadruple the recipe.)
