This was a busy week, and I did not get as much posted as I really wanted to. Before Christmas is over, I wanted to share this yummy cookie recipe with you. If you still need some sweet treats to bake for friends or you just want something for your own family, this is a great recipe to try. It comes from the Taste of Home Best Loved Cookies magazine.
Cream Cheese Cutouts:
1 cup softened butter
3 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine flour and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture until well blended. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with holiday themed cookie cutters of your choice. (You may need to lightly dip cutters in flour). Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes. Cool and decorate with frosting.
