James and I do not go to Applebee's all that often, but when we do, I ALWAYS order the same thing. I tend to do this at most every restaurant that we go to. I found my favorite Applebee's menu item on the Top Secret Recipes website and I had to share it with you.
Oriental Chicken Salad:
Dressing:
3 Tbsp. honey
1 1/2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/8 tsp. sesame oil
Salad:
2-4 cups oil
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 skinless chicken breast fillet
3 cups chopped romaine lettuce
1 cup chopped red cabbage
1 cup chopped Napa cabbage
1/2 carrot, shredded
1 green onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. sliced almonds
1/3 cup crispy chow mein noodles
Using an electric mixer, blend together all ingedients for dressing in a small bowl. Put dressing in refrigerator to chill while you prepare the salad. Preheat oil in deep skillet over medium heat. In a shallow bowl, beat the egg, add the milk, and mix well. In another bowl, combine flour with cornflake crumbs, salt, and pepper. Cut chicken into 4-5 long strips. Dip each strip into the egg mixture and then the flour mixture. Coat each piece thoroughly. Cook for 5 minutes or until coating has browned on both sides. Prepare salad. Toss romaine with chopped cabbages and carrots. Sprinkle green onion on top of the lettuce mixture. Toast almonds in a small skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until browned. Sprinkle toasted almonds over salad. Add chow mein noodles. Cut chicken into small bite sized chunks. Place chicken onto the salad. Serve with dressing on the side.
