James and I have been waiting for the day it would be cold enough to finally make chili. We have tried for about a month, but it just was never cool enough here. The time has come! A while back, I posted a non traditional recipe for chili, but this is the one I make most often.
Chili:
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 onion, finely diced
1 green bell pepper, finely diced
1 pkg. chili seasoning
1 28 oz. can tomato sauce
1 15 oz. can petite cut diced tomatoes
1 15 oz. can water
2 15 oz. cans chili beans
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. black pepper
Brown the meat with the onion and bell pepper. Drain the meat and return to the heat. Sprinkle in the chili seasoning. Stir well. Pour in the tomato sauce and the tomatoes. Next, add the beans and water, mixing well. Stir in seasonings. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
